As BTC-ECHO reports (https://www.btc-echo.de/news/krypto-news-der-woche-bitcoin-beben-binance-und-die-haltefrist-233712/), the crypto market is moving in a volatile environment at the beginning of July 2026. The Bitcoin price has fallen to around 58,000 USD, which is occupying both investors and market observers alike. At the same time, European regulation through the MiCA regulation (Markets in Crypto-Assets) continues to cause uncertainty, especially for large crypto exchanges like Binance.
Bitcoin Price Falls to 58,000 USD
After a longer phase of stabilization, Bitcoin has recently experienced a significant price decline. The reasons for this are varied: on the one hand, macroeconomic factors such as interest rate policy and inflation data affect investors' risk appetite. On the other hand, regulatory uncertainty burdens the market. Despite the decline, Bitcoin remains at a comparatively high level of 58,000 USD, which is considered a solid basis in the long term.
Binance and the Challenges from MiCA
The MiCA regulation, which has applied to crypto-asset service providers in the EU since the end of 2024, presents significant hurdles for Binance. The exchange is struggling to meet the extensive licensing and transparency requirements necessary for operating in Europe. According to sources, Binance even faces the threat of leaving the EU if the regulatory requirements cannot be fully implemented. This could severely restrict the availability of Binance services for European users and reorder competition in the European crypto sector.
The End of the Tax Holding Period Approaches
For many crypto investors in Germany, an important tax milestone is also approaching: the official end of the holding period for cryptocurrencies. According to current law, cryptocurrencies held for more than one year are tax-free upon sale. This privilege will soon end for certain acquisitions made from January 1, 2023, onwards. Investors should therefore deal with the tax consequences in good time to avoid unpleasant surprises in their tax returns.
