As Good News Network reports (https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/shells-new-concept-ev-designed-to-charge-in-under-10-minutes-and-run-at-6-miles-per-kwh/), Shell has unveiled an innovative electric vehicle concept that could significantly influence the future of electromobility in Europe. The so-called “Triple 10 Challenge Car” relies on a combination of lightweight construction and advanced charging technology to significantly improve both charging time and range.
Revolutionary Charging Speed
The outstanding feature of the new concept is the ability to fully charge the battery in under ten minutes. This is made possible by a simplified cooling architecture with only one cooling circuit, which efficiently manages the thermal load during the charging process. The battery has a capacity of 175 kilowatt-hours, which, combined with the fast charging capability, offers enormous flexibility for users.
Efficient Range for Everyday Use
With an efficiency of about 6 miles per kilowatt-hour (approx. 9.6 kilometers per kWh), the vehicle offers a range that meets the demands of daily commuting and longer trips. This combination of fast charging time and high range could significantly increase the acceptance of electric cars, as it addresses the previously often criticized limitations regarding charging times and range.
Focus on European Production and Sustainability
With this concept, Shell also aims to strengthen electromobility in Europe by serving as an inspiration for the next generation of mass-market electric vehicles manufactured in Europe. The lightweight construction also contributes to resource conservation and supports sustainable mobility concepts.
